How to find the right car mats from your registration

Your registration is the quickest way to the right mats, because it gives your car's make, model and year. It cannot tell us everything, so here is what happens after you enter it.

The short answer

Enter your registration and the finder works out your car's make, model and year, then takes you to the mats for that generation. A registration does not record details such as body style, floor fixings or where your boot floor sits, so the vehicle page asks about those, and anything you skip is confirmed with you before we cut.

Key takeaways

  • A registration gives the make, model and year, which is usually enough to find the right pattern.
  • It does not record body style, fixing studs or boot floor position.
  • Around a model change the year alone can be ambiguous, so you may be asked to pick the version that matches your car.
  • If your registration is not found, choose your make, model and year instead.
  • Not sure about a detail? Choose not sure, or email us a photo.

How it works

Finding your mats takes three steps:

  • Type your registration into the box at the top of the page and press Find my mats.
  • The finder works out your car's make, model and year.
  • You land on the page for your generation, where you choose your material, colour and binding.

Spaces and capital letters do not matter. A private plate works the same way as a standard one, because it is registered to your car.

What a registration cannot tell us

Vehicle records describe a car in broad terms. They do not record the things that change the shape of a mat:

  • Body style, such as saloon or touring, which changes the boot.
  • Floor fixings, such as round twist studs, which decide how the mat is held.
  • Boot floor position, upper or lower, on cars with an adjustable floor.
  • Rear layout, one rear mat or two, on some models.

That is why the vehicle page asks a few short questions. Answering is optional: if you skip one, or choose not sure, we confirm it with you before we cut. For the boot, see how to check your boot floor.

If your car was built around a model change

Manufacturers do not always change models at the start of a year. A car from a changeover year could be the outgoing generation or the new one, and their floors can differ. When that happens, the finder asks you to pick the version that matches your car.

If you cannot tell which you have, compare your car with the photographs on each version's page, or email us a photo of the car and we will tell you.

If your registration is not found

Check the registration for a mistyped letter or number first. If it still is not found, or the lookup is briefly unavailable, choose your make, model and year from the lists instead. You reach exactly the same page.

If your model is not listed at all, ask us and we will tell you honestly whether we can make mats for it.

Common questions

Can I find car mats without my registration?

Yes. Choose your make, model and year from the lists instead.

Does it work with a private plate?

Yes. A private plate is registered to your car in the same way as a standard one.

Why are there questions after I enter my registration?

Because a registration does not record details such as floor fixings or boot floor position, and those change the shape of the mat.

What if I do not know the answers?

Choose not sure, or skip the question. We confirm those details with you before anything is cut, and a photo is often all it takes.

Does it work for vans?

Yes. Enter the registration, or choose your van from the lists.
